St. Patrick was born in Roman Britain. When he was fourteen he was captured by Irish pirates and taken to Ireland as a slave to herd and tend sheep. At the time, Ireland was a land of Druids and Pagans.
Saint Patrick escaped his captivity through a dream from God. He returned to Ireland after experiencing another dream from God to convert the Irish to Christianity. In 40 years he converted all of Ireland to Christianity. He made County Armagh the center of his ministry.
